Sunday, February 6th: Special Service Featuring Jim Elliff

On Sunday, February 6th, Heritage will host a special service with guest speaker Jim Elliff (click here for biography). Our focus during this service will be on faith. We have invited Jim to give a presentation on the life of faith demonstrated through George Muller. In our planning of this service, we realized that one hour was not enough! So, Jim’s presentation will be given in two parts, both in our worship service and our Bible study hour. We hope you will be able to join us.

If you would like a preview, please see an introduction written by Jim Elliff for the book Autobiography of George Muller, or, A Million and a Half in Answer to Prayer by George Muller. The text of Jim’s introduction can be found here.

As Jim writes:

“Muller’s view of faith was simple, almost childlike. He believed that everything he did was to be guided by Scripture. He was no mystic, refusing to be lead by impressions or even to take Scripture out of context. He believed that living by impressions would lead Christians into much error. Rather, as a man of confidence in the Bible, he found out what God had promised and rested on it. Faith, to Muller, was finding out what God said or what he permitted, and doggedly hanging on to the promises even when circumstances were screaming otherwise.”

We will meet and begin worship in prayer and song at 10:00 AM. We will break for a meal together at around 11:30 and then resume Jim’s presentation after that.

I’ve been fascinated by Muller’s life and ministry and am looking forward to this introduction from Jim before taking on Muller’s The Life of Trust. More than a biographical lecture, this promises to be a very devotional time of rejoicing in God’s provision and rule over and in all things.
