Our Confession of Faith

For a doctrinal statement of our beliefs, please view The Heritage Baptist Church Confession of Faith.  This is largely based upon the New Hampshire Confession of Faith drawn up by the Rev. John Newton Brown, D. D., of New Hampshire about 1833, and was adopted by the New Hampshire Convention, and widely accepted by Baptists, especially in the Northern and Western States, as a clear and concise statement of their faith. It is in harmony with the doctrines of older confessions and we believe it represents the outline of our beliefs in brief. It is available to view online via the link below or download in Adobe Reader (.pdf) form.

The Gospel

At Heritage, we strive to hold forth the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it’s purity, knowing that there is power in it for all who repent and believe unto salvation.  Unfortunately, the Gospel message seems to be under attack today and in many cases a false gospel is presented in the Truth.  We hope to place more articles on the critical subject of the Gospel on this page over time, so please check back.

We are pleased to present the following articles:

The Scriptures

As stated in our confession of faith, “We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction…without any mixture of error.”  But we not only view the Scriptures as being perfect and without error, we also view the Scriptures as powerful and essential.  As such, we strive with great earnestness to grow in our knowledge and wisdom of the Word of God.  We trust that preaching and teaching the Word of God in its context will bring about wonderful effects by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, we do not trust in the wisdom and wit of men, but in the revealed Word of God.

Etc.

We invite you to view a list of books that we recommend for Christian growth, study, and service in the Kingdom of God.  This list is not provided as an statement of agreement with all teachings espoused by the books or the authors, we simply hope you will find it encouraging and full of great resources.  Many of these books were used for studies at Heritage.
