Wed. Preview: Isaiah
Wednesday evening, we plan to look at Isaiah as we continue our study out of Stephen Dempster’s work Dominion and Dynasty. Let me quote from Dempster’s book to whet your appetite.
“If these opening oracles [of Isaiah]describe Israel’s judgment and its cause, within these same chapters a glorious future is also predicted. Juxtaposed to such bleak images of land and people is the temple mount, which grows to be the highest mountain, dominating the landscape of not only Israel but the world (Is. 2:1-5). Zion has become Everest. Instead of the river flowing out of the temple, downwards and outwards to the land, as in the vision of Ezekiel, the rivers of the nations flow up to Jerusalem; natural laws of gravity are overcome by the magnetic hill of Jerusalem. Geographical reality is rearranged by biblical eschatology.”
In our study Wednesday, we plan to look at:
- Isaiah’s Commentary on Israel’s Condition
- The Stump and the Seed
- Another Israel – an Obedient Son
- The Promise of the Gospel of Salvation
