Visitor FAQ

We are excited to extend an invitation for you to visit us at Heritage.  We have put together a list of typical questions that people may have prior to attending to help you feel as comfortable as possible as a first time visitor.

How do I get to Heritage? Our Sunday morning services are held in a rented space at the John Knox Village retirement community in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  Directions can be found here. If you would like to join us for one of our other meetings, please contact us to get the latest times and meeting places.

What is the worship style? We seek to implement the Scriptural commands of worship in the elements of our service.  Therefore, we have times of the preaching/teaching/reading of the Word of God, prayer, congregational singing of Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, and public testimony.  We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month.  Our music is best described as traditional, using the Baptist Hymnal, though we may print a new hymn to sing in our bulletin as well.

What times are the services at Heritage? Our Bible Study starts at 9:30 AM and lasts until 10:15-10:30.  We then have a short time of fellowship until 10:45 when our Worship service begins.

Do you offer a nursery or children’s Sunday School? At this time, we do not have a staffed nursery or a children’s Sunday School.  We do have a separate room that families with small children can use and still hear the worship service through overhead speakers.  Currently, our families have decided to keep their children of all ages in the services.  This does not mean that we are opposed to having a children’s Sunday School for younger ages; we are just not currently at a point of staffing and utilizing it.

What should I wear? In our view, your Sunday Best is the most comfortable (yet respectful) clothes in which to worship.  We will have some folks in Dockers and others in Wranglers.  But while we don’t expect everyone to wear ties, we do strive to maintain modesty.

Are visitors invited to join the meal on the first Sunday of the month? Absolutely! We would love to have you as our guest.  Please don’t worry about bringing a dish, we always have more than enough.  The meal usually begins after 12:00 and we have a good time of fellowship until about 1:30 or 2:00.
